5697 - "Kurozome" Sashiko Shirt - Black

$ 365.00

Since around 2019, Sashiko has been the most important fabric in our industry. We've seen it in nearly every form from jacquard to dobby to basket weave to methods we may not even understand. This might just be one of those methods. This shirt combines one of the series we're most enamored with, the "Kurozome" dye line, and this fluffy, comfy sashiko fabric that we can't wrap our heads around. It's such a sensory overload for the skin when you put this shirt on. It feels almost like a fleece because it's so buttery. This doesn't even mention how cool the dye process is. It dates back to a time during the Heian period for Buddhist priests. It's made with Betel nuts (Binjori) which creates this incredible deep black color. Everything Studio makes is special, but this is one we know people will find themselves regretting not having purchased.

    Fit Notes: Most of our Japanese brands are known for fitting small, and this one fits the bill. Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 42 in the pictures, which is closest to a large, and it fits him perfectly. His standard size is medium, so he has followed the "size up once for Japanese brands" rule. Tommy is 5'10," 163lbs with a 40" chest.
