As you probably know at this point, the "Amami Dorozome" lineup has a stranglehold on us. We have a hard time saying no to anything dyed with this ancient process. We're a sucker for earth-tone backing. And it doesn't get much more earthy than using the dyeing process from the island of Amami-Oshima. This iteration is slightly different in that it is dyed with a wood dye. It's still done using ancient processes, but it has that gorgeous light brown color you can see poking through (no mud on this iteration.) The base product for this jacket is Indigo, so you know that these are built to age. We've never seen anything like them. The mud will shed and crock at the same time the indigo does. On this variation, the weft shows through the warp particularly nicely. It has a bit of a tea-core feeling to us. This jacket mimics Japanese tradition in that a jacquard machine recreates the hand-stitch used to repair garments and kimonos in the past. The stitching, underlying denim, and wood-dye will fade in tandem to create one of the most unique things in your closet.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 42 in these. He's always had to size up at least once from Studio D'artisan, except for on rare occasions. This fits perfectly in the size which compares to an American Large, while still sitting nicely at the waist. Tommy is 5'10," 180lbs with a 40" chest.
