"Café Racer" Leather Jacket - Black
Shangri-La Heritage - "Café Racer" Leather Jacket - Black.
Early on, we were the only brand carrying leathers from Shangri-La in America. Since then, they've been very good at growing their brand slowly in America and we're now one of a very few with a selection in their leather goods. These guys trust us to represent the brand in America and we appreciate them thoroughly for that. This season, we've gone hard and as far as giving specifications on the grade of leather we want. We are excited to really represent the brand this year, and this first round is just the start.
The Café is, and probably always be their best-selling jacket for us. The jacket was inspired by late 70s racing jackets but with Shangri-La's unique Italian touch. The piece is made with vegetable-tanned, drum-dyed, top-grain Lambskin from Tuscany (Italy). It also features an "Espresso Coffee" color viscose lining. You'll also notice metallic zippers made of antique brass with custom engraved markings. These bad boys are designed for bikers but can be worn by anyone looking for an heirloom jacket to wear during the cool months.

"Chiodo" Horsehide Leather Jacket - Black
Shangri-La - "Chiodo" Horsehide Leather Jacket - Black.
The green liner on this blew us away. They've really stepped up their game with this latest series and we're excited as hell to have it.
Inspired by 1950s Motorcycle jackets and revisited with a unique Italian touch, the “Chiodo” Whisky Horsehide Leather Jacket represents an authentic garment made of Front Quarter Pull-up Horsehide by Charles F. Stead, one of the oldest tanneries in the UK (since 1890s in Leeds, United Kingdom). The Front Quarter Pull-up Horsehide by Charles F. Stead is made by selected European Full Grain horse hides tanned with Steads’ traditional garment tannage and finished with a blend of “classic pull-up” waxes. This produces a pure aniline leather with a Unique Rich character. Charles F. Stead is a traditional family business established in 1895, which remained faithful to the artisanal skills, techniques, and know-how that others have forgotten, taking the time to work the leathers in the traditional way. These skills continue to live on in harmony with modern production technologies. Quality leather can never be a commoditized product, with each hide having its own characteristics, and they treat it accordingly.

These guys trust us to represent the brand in America and we appreciate them thoroughly for that. This season, we've gone hard and as far as giving specifications on the grade of leather we want. This one specifically was one we called out. We needed the most crackly, light-colored leather with the best pullup. And they delivered.

orSlow - Ivy Fit Pique Denim - Dusty Olive.
These past six months have been a time of exploration. We've tried every orSlow fabric we were afraid to reach for in the past, and it's paid off in bushels - if not only for our own selfish fabric "Golluming". We've had the opportunity to touch nearly every unique fabric orSlow manufactures and this is tops. It's a pique fabric that might read like a micro cord or jungle cloth to some, but this is a double cloth fabric known for its summer breathability. We normally see super lightweight pique fabrics in the form of Aloha shirts...but the geniuses at orSlow have created these gorgeous lightweight denim jeans in their 107 Ivy fit. And we can gush about the details all day long, but we'll never stop loving orSlow's pension for verdigris. They love to age their hardware and we think it's absolutely beautiful - like miniature works of art.

orSlow - 105 - Standard Fit Selvedge Denim - 2 Year Wash.
You may have noticed that we've been a holdout on washed denim for nearly ten years of doing business. We were always of the mindset that we should make our own fades. We've passed on many a beautiful wash, and we've also evolved a little bit as a brand. If we were ever going to start with a wash, it was going to be from orSlow. The first time we saw these in person in a New York showroom over 2 years ago now, we knew they were too special to not give a shot. And now that we have, we're utterly in love.
This pair is mirrored from an archival pair from designer Ichiro Nakasu's own personal collection. It features oxidized rivets, railroading, honeycombs, roping, and gold selvedge ID. The fading is pretty perfectly even across the jeans like you would expect from any great vintage pair. There's almost more white there than blue at this point. This is the pair for guys who have tons of indigo they're working on and want something with that vintage look. It's also just for anyone who likes this wash of denim! These are nice and soft but will continue to age and patina with time. And they've got a nice roomy, standard fit for style and comfort.

orSlow - 105 - Standard Fit Denim - 90s Used Wash.
Pleased is an understatement when it comes to the fact that we're working with orSlow. They've been on our brand "bucket list" for a while, so when we had a chance to see the line live in New York a few years back...we knew it was only a matter of time. The brand is everything we love - vintage-inspired designs with a modern branding approach and quality at the forefront of their ethos. It's all in the name, as they're the antidote to modern fast fashion...they do things slowly!
These are as '90s as it gets. From the fit to the perfect wash, it doesn't get any more reminiscent than this. They've done this the same way they do everything - the right way. As the coding would indicate, this is mirrored from a pair in 1995. People will ask, "Why not selvedge?" Selvedge didn't come back into popularity, and any form of real production until the early aughts. While orSlow doesn't focus primarily on fully accurate reproductions, we believe they wanted to pay homage to the denim used at the time. Of course, they aren't going to make a bad product (which most denim in the '90s was). They're just trying to mirror the details of the denim of that time while using high-quality Japanese denim, hardware, and accuracy. This pair is probably our favorite wash from the good people at orSlow. It's done really, really well.

orSlow - Fatigue Pants Reverse Sateen - Slim Fit - Olive.
The Fatigue Pants from orSlow are perhaps one of the most legendary, and sometimes elusive, pairs of pants in our industry. Everyone either has a pair of these or wants them. The hand feel on the slubbiness you see in those up-close shots is like butter. They call them heavyweight, but they're so comfortable on the skin. You'll see little details all over that harken back to the US Army pair these are mirrored from. We're talking side-tab waist adjustments, front patch pockets, and button closures galore. We see these pants being a staple for us long-term...that is, if we can keep them in stock.

The hand feel on the slubbiness you see in those up-close shots is like butter. They call them heavyweight, but they're so comfortable on the skin. If the shirting proved anythign to us, it's that people love the way this fabric reacts to a little bit of patina.

The Fatigue Pants from orSlow are perhaps one of the most legendary, and sometimes elusive, pairs of pants in our industry. We have it today, but we may not tomorrow (it's not always on the pre-order menu).

orSlow - Fatigue Pants Reverse Sateen - Standard Fit - Black Stone.
We've been dreaming about this all since the shirts arrived last year. We kept saying "I know we have the pants coming in black" and they're finally here. It's got a nice washed look to the color so it's not stark black upfront. If you can't tell by now, we love fatigue pants. This is easily one of the top 10 pants in the shop. It's a beautiful, horizontally-textured reverse sateen with the buttons that are so familiar to all of us, yet so hard to describe. It's almost like they've taken all of the shiny stuff of urea buttons and what you're left with is this texturally satisfying almost rubber-like hand feel. That's enough about buttons, though. These are a perfect pant for nearly anyone. They're dark, they're roomy, and they're full of texture.

orSlow - Fatigue Pants Reverse Sateen - Standard Fit - Ecru.
This one is quite a bit of a legend. Everyone either has a pair of these or wants them. But, we've seen very few people with the Ecru version. We can't say definitively that this is the first round of ecru, but it is definitely the first time we've seen it. They're that same horizontally textured reverse sateen as the shirt, just in pant form. The hand feel of the slubbiness you see in those up-close shots is like butter. They call them heavyweight, but they're so comfortable on the skin. You'll see little details all over that harken back to the US Army pair from which these are mirrored. We're talking side-tab waist adjustments, front patch pockets, and button closures galore. These have now become a long-term staple for us, but we can by no means guarantee that this ecru will exist in the future (and the slim version has now disappeared in just a couple of weeks). For us, that's enough of a reason to snag them for this gorgeous Summer ahead.

orSlow - Denim Bush Pants - One Wash.
We couldn't not take a shot on these pants. Anything bold enough to have the same pockets on the front as it has on the back is too intriguing to pass up. The original purpose of these pants was for hunters pushing their way through the bush in the 1970s. We think they have a wonderful fashion-forward sense about them all while using Orlsows original 14oz denim. It's got a ton of character up front and is only going to get better with time. We think this uniquely pocketed design is something any brave soul looking for a new silhouette can get on board with.

These have now become a long-term staple for us, but we can by no means guarantee that this ecru will exist in the future. For us, that's enough of a reason to snag them for this gorgeous Summer ahead.
orSlow - Painters Pants Kinari Denim w/Paint - Ecru.
These bad boys were a shot at nostalgia for us. They bring us right back to the 90s. After we got the jacket, we couldn't stop ourselves with the pants. You can do a full coverall painted kit if you want. And this time, we really wanted the paint splatter. We had such good luck with the first round of these, we thought, "Why not give it a shot?" And they're done so tastefully that they become a pant everyone wants to rock. These have all of the classic features including that left-hand loop for your hammer and a slot on the right for many other tools. The massive pockets and subtle arcuate only add to the wonderfully fun nature of these pants. And, they're soft as all get out. This is a true workwear fit with enough room to do almost anything.

orSlow - Painters Pants 2 Year Wash w/Paint - Indigo.
These bad boys were a shot at nostalgia for us. They bring us right back to the 90's. We went for the even heavier "used" version of the pant vs the "one wash." If you asked the question "what would it be like if you put pockets on the slim-fit Fatigue Pant" this might just be your answer. Of course, it has different pockets and a slightly different cut, but a similar look overall. The major difference is that ripstop fabric. It's the grid pattern you see on a macro level in the pants. Where they lack the texture of the reverse sateen, they gain a ton with the ripstop. These are a little smoother overall and we're honestly quite enamored with the fit. The side tab adjusters make it quite utilitarian as the piece is as a whole in general. These things have us swooning.

We must admit, we're converts. The cargo pant was nowhere on our radar until orSlow introduced us to it in all its lovely utility. Their cuts simply seem to fit better than everyone elses. With the introduction of the "easy" waist, that fit process becomes even simpler. With this version, you can focus more on getting the leg silhouette you want and kind of bounce between sizes. It has some classic features like the typewriter crotch. Our favorite has to be those copper buttons coated in black. These have a wonderful cut and are a nice addition to any denim head's collection.

And if we've learned anything since the last launch, it's that this pant moves quickly. The charcoal disappeared in days. orSlow - 1960s Type III Denim Jacket - Vintage Used Wash.
orSlow's Wash fabrics are among the best denim washes we've ever handled. The jacket isn't just stoned-washed in batches but individually attended to in order to ensure all details are accurate and natural - notice the unique fading on the elbows, for example.
The 1960s jacket pulls cues from the era that made the denim jacket famous. Its classic v-style pockets and seams are going to be forever iconic. They've included the cinch back as well as the shortened cuffs to top this piece off. orSlow pulls no punches on this one, making a historically accurate and easily-worn jacket that harkens back to one of the coolest eras of American fashion. Like a well-fitting leather jacket, it's hard not to feel cool in a well-worn jean jacket.

We simply couldn't pass this M-43 repro when we saw those massive pockets. This is a medium-weight herringbone in olive drab. It has this incredible star buttons that are coated in black that will flake off and patina with wear. You're looking at a piece that's meant to have a bit more room. You want to be able to move in these bad boys. Those ginormous pockets at the chest have to be our favorite part of this vintage repro garment. They're such a statement on an already gorgeous piece of history.

The marled beige colorway was drew us in from the start. We love the way this color looks on wool. Then, we realized it was reversible. This jacket is one of the finest jackets we've ever laid eyes on. Reversible doesn't always work well in real life, but this is the exception. It's just as good on the wool side as it is on the poly-canvas inverse. The orSlow snaps are the ones we love so much from some of their beloved pants. The draw string and hood are just the icing on this cake of this spectacular work of art.

orSlow - Coverall Kinari Denim - Ecru with Paint.
The coverall has been a classic workwear staple for decades and a familiar silhouette since we opened the shop. We always loved the Kinari (raw, unbleached) Ecru version but we could never quite convey how much of a canvas it can really be. Well, with our expansion with orSlow over the past 18 months, we've been able to buy the fantasy pieces. This is one where they've perfectly added those paint splatters to create a work of art up front. These of course have all the beautiful details and hardy construction you're used to from our friends at orSlow. They're also a nice roomy, artsy fit. There's plenty of room in this coverall to add even more character to the 10oz denim. A little dirt here, a little paint there and this funky paint job can look even nicer!

orSlow - Fatigue Shorts - Army Green.
The Fatigue material from orSlow are perhaps one of the most legendary, and sometimes elusive, fabrics in our industry. Everyone either has a pair of the pants or wants them. The shorts are an option for anyone who loves the pants and wants something with just a little more summer wearability.

orSlow - Fatigue Short Ripstop - Beige.
It's very rare that we get a pair of shorts in the shop. orSlow is one of the only brands we're willing to grab them from. It's also very rare that we see a fabric from them that isn't offered in multiple styles. We've never seen this beige ripstop fabric used in fatigue. So, when we saw these we had to snap them up. They fit a lot like the fatigue you know and love, just with a little less leg. They're gonna be perfect for the heat we're bound to experience this Summer. You can't wear pants 365 days a year, so for those other days, orSlow's shorts definitely come in handy.

This is being affectionately referred to as "that new cool top" at the shop. It takes the fabric we love from the cargos and makes it into a roomy-fitting, fashion-forward fatigue shirt/jacket. It, like most of orSlow's designs, is based on a military garment. This one, more specifically, is a Trooper shirt from the 1960s. It can be worn buttoned as a shirt or open as more of layering or final piece to an outfit. It has roomier arms and no cuffs which lends to wearing it over the top of other garments. We love cotton ripstop for its upfront appeal, but we've also been privy to the way it ages - which is gorgeous by the way.

orSlow - Hawaiian Vacation Shirt - Black.
We've pretty much waded through the basics from orSlow at this point. The fatigue collection and anything ripstop will forever be a staple in the shop. Now, we're getting to look forward to pieces like this. We were not expecting a Rayon Hawaiian shirt from orSlow, and that is what makes it all the better. This shirt is breathtakingly light and airy. It makes us long for a cool beer on a beach. It is the definition of a Hawaiian shirt. And like anything else orSlow does, its constructed slowly and to perfection. We have a thing for Japanese floral patterns, so this shirt couldn't be better to us.

orSlow - Linen Button-Down Safari Shirt - Orange Check
Every once in a while, a lightweight shirt from orSlow snags our attention. We say that because they're better known for their heavyweight fabrics used for fatigues and jackets. This is not their specialty, but when they do it...oh, is it good. This orange check shirt is wrinkled to perfection. You could press it, by why would you? The wrinkle is part of the "linen" of the whole thing. This is one of those pieces where you lean into the wrinkle.

Shoes Like Pottery, made in the same factory as Moonstar, is done slow and steady - like the process of hand throwing, glazing, and firing pottery. The kiln they use to vulcanize the rubber is very similar in nature to the one used in the process of ceramics. The foxing surrounding the shoe even reminds us of some patterns we’ve seen in our favorite potters' clay-work. These were intentional. The name means what it says. A slow process of stitching, wrapping, molding, and firing gives these shoes a foundation you’ll be able to stand on for a long time. The beauty in the aesthetics of the shoes means more in that way, at least to us. Voting with your dollars is the perfect intersection of sensory pleasure and storytelling. The two waves flow through the universe in parallel only crossing paths on rare occasions. We specialize in curating those occasions, and so does Shoes Like Pottery. The Beige is one of our favorite colors yet.
