This is one of those moments where you realize just how far your business has come. From the moment of brand inception to working with one of your favorite brands, Naked & Famous. This project was a labor of love inspired by our need for slubby denim. That's where we started. We knew it had to be textured. Lucky for us we landed on a 14.5oz slubby denim from Japan. This denim is iconically Japanese. We're not talking the most technical denim out there. There's not some crazy color weft or four different types of weaves. This is the stuff denim heads freaked out over before the renaissance of raw. This is as traditionally Japanese denim as you can get. And, it packs a punch at 14.5oz without going overboard.
Next, we focused on the details. As we developed the story of the slub monster, a bumpy, suction-cupped creature of the deep, we wanted to have him protecting something. The "golden loom" meant to create the perfect traditional Japanese Denim. That golden story spilled over into the stitches. The inseam stitch and hem on the denim are uniquely golden from the more traditional copper thread you'll notice throughout. We believe these subtle pops will only be noticeable to those truly looking. We went with copper rivets and buttons except for the top. That button is black to match the pocket flasher. You'll notice yellow pocket bags to really drive home the golden shuttle loom story! We also got the opportunity to add our logo to a veg tan patch with our humble partner's logo in the corner. The gargoyle will really stand out when worn as we only sewed it on two sides. This will allow you to slide your belt behind it giving it even more opportunity to pick up patina.
Lastly, we had to find the perfect art for the pocket flasher. For this, we enlisted the help of our friend Ben Currie. His skills far surpass his love for raw denim, and that's no easy task. The guy is a hardcore denim lover and collector making this a perfect match. After many iterations, we landed on this beautiful black pocket flasher with pops of yellow and indigo. Of course, our Slub Monster's tentacles had to be blue! The suction cups representing the slubbiness of this denim only made sense. As we spoke on above, the monster is guarding his prized golden shuttle loom. We hope this wonderful piece of artwork winds up on your wall or in a scrapbook. And one day, when you've thrashed these you may just hang them on the wall as well. The fading will blow your mind! Trust us.

Fit Notes: The Weird Guy is a slim fit with a medium-high rise, roomy top block, and a slight taper from knee to hem. Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 30. This is one down from his keystone size from Naked & Famous. Typically wearing super guy, he is able to size down one in the weird guy. We highly recommend you stick with your true weird guy size or go up one based on the meticulously taken measurements above. Tommy is 5'10" and 170lbs.

12oz - Dusty Rose Denim - Weird Guy
Goodness, it's good to see some variation in pants this Summer. We've definitely got the most diverse lineup of pant colors and fabrics we've ever had, so why not Pink (dusty rose). These are a refreshing slap in the face when all you've been wearing is indigo all day. We knew the second we saw these that they were a cult classic in the making. This is that pair that sells out and people go hunting for it years and years from now. The color is the perfect off-pink color that 99% of people don't have in their wardrobe. It's such a unique, soft fabric that we can see guys wearing all Summer long until they break out their heavy stuff for Winter. And maybe, just maybe, these will make an appearance all year round.

But, we've broadened our horizon a bit in the last year and we've become shorts connoisseurs. We could no longer deny that our favorite brands were making shorts just as well as they make everything else. These have a super unique pocket design where the front gusseted pockets nearly mirror themselves as back pockets. It's got the modern flat black coated feather nickel button and an elastic waist for extra comfort. This comes very in handy with a raw denim. They feel stiff up front like a brand-new pair of jeans, but they're so easy to slip on because of that waistband. These will fade with an incredibly shadowy look. We know some guys are going to make these pop with blueberry blue in just a few months, and we can't wait to see it.
9oz Fatigue Shorts - Alpenflage Camo
We've been watching from the sidelines for a few years now. We have to admit, shorts were never our forte. But, we've broadened our horizon a bit in the last year and we've become shorts connoisseurs. We could no longer deny that our favorite brands were making shorts just as well as they make everything else. These have a super unique pocket design where the front gusseted pockets nearly mirror themselves as back pockets. It's got the classic feather nickel button and an elastic waist for extra comfort. We clearly have a bit of a problem with camo (we can't keep our hands off of it). And this is the most unique camo we've seen to date. It's full of unexpected colors and busyness that it almost becomes a plain. That's how we look at the wildest patterns. You can wear them with anything because they become their own amorphous thing.
This is a first for us. Karl has modified the "Field Shirt" slightly for this short sleeve version, but it still holds true to its origins. The major differences are the chopped-off sleeves and the more uniform pocketing. It still has a boxier silhouette and a pen slot in the left pocket. They've also used those iconic black catseye buttons. The fabric is for sure the star of the show. This selvedge twill is as buttery as buttery gets. It has a nice tight weave for a smooth finish that feels extremely luxurious. They've also given us those little pokes of selvedge ticker in the side gussets and on the placket. This shirt kind of ties it all together. It's a bit of what RGT has been known for, for so many years. It's a gorgeous piece to add to any collection.
