3Sixteen - Crosscut Flannel - Slate Slub. We're so used to seeing heavyweight Crosscut Flannels that we were quite blown back by the Spring Summer iteration. They've dropped the weight down to a manageable one for the 70° days. They're super comfy up front but still packed with texture due to the slub yarns they used for this production run. You'll notice the signature cross-back yolk and enamel buttons to accentuate the real star of this show - the fabric. Now comes the tough choice...slate or mauve?

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a medium in the flannels. This is his typical size from nearly every brand, and 3sixteen almost always fits him in a medium. The crosscuts have always fit "true to size" for us with ample room in the body and sleeves without being boxy. 3sixteen considers them a slim fit and recommends sizing up once if you want a more relaxed fit. Tommy is 5'10," 170lbs with a 40" chest.

3sixteen

3Sixteen - Crosscut Flannel - Rust Twill Plaid.

This Crosscut has all that heavy texture goodness for which the shirt is known. It's a chunky twill with the enamel-coated buttons you all know and love. And, it's a gorgeous Rust color that shoots a bit of saturation into an otherwise desaturated lineup for FW23. Still though, this shirt has a softness from the brushing process that we've come to appreciate. The day of the stiff, crunchy flannel has come to an end, at least for now. Cozy is in, but without losing the hardiness this thing cut its teeth on.

3Sixteen - Easy Pant - Dry Garden Jacquard.

The Easy Pant is a roomy, comfy fitting pant with a cut nice enough to make you want to wear it out and about, but just as easily to lounge on the couch. It carries on this season's beige/tan color story in this gorgeous off-white color they're calling Dry Garden. If you were lucky enough to get your hands on one of the last two pieces, these pants will pair perfectly with them. We really appreciate that they used their newly acquired fabric wizardry to do the talking. Since pairing with their factory in India, the level of textile uniqueness is through the roof. This Jacquard has a topographical hand feel that you can see in the pictures but only truly experience in person. It's very, very hard to shock us after 10 years of seeing and touching fabrics on a daily basis - but this Dry Garden Jacquard has opened our eyes to what technical weaving can be.

3Sixteen - Shop Jacket - Dry Garden Jacquard.

The Shop Jacket is a new silhouette for FW23 that is designed with a nod toward classic European chore coats. It carries on this season's beige/tan color story in this gorgeous off-white color they're calling Dry Garden. If you were lucky enough to get your hands on one of the last two pieces, this jacket will layer over the top of them so nicely.

3Sixteen - Open Collar Shirt Handloom Silk - Travertine.

This is the first time we've seen silk from our friends at 3sixteen. Their move to India has allowed them to produce mind-boggling fabrics season after season. The geological-looking horizontal pattern in the silk weave is easy for anyone to love. It activates something in our alien brains that says cozy. And, it's all done by hand with raw silk creating that streaky, slubby effect that looks a bit like marble. Our favorite part of these shirts has to be the scooped scalloped buttons, and that's saying a lot seeing that this fabric is so luxurious. The mother of pearl grabs your attention, and then you start to see that the enter of the button is scooped out to leave the ends higher. They're kind of like mini half pipes if that simile helps at all. This is the start to a wonderful Fall of unique fabrics and easy-to-wear earth-tone colors - all part of the 3sixteen 20th Anniversary celebration.

3Sixteen - Crosscut Flannel Jacquard - Alabaster.

We think the thing that got us so excited about this fabric was that it was unlike any other crosscut yet to be released. They're normally a hardy, starchy fabric that suits denim perfectly. Well, this is definitely not that. It is incredibly soft in woven in this kind of chaotic, loose pattern that lays super nicely on the skin. That uneven character gives the fabric a texture like a sashiko shirt. You've got the classic enamel-coated buttons, and the signature cross back yoke, but other than that these are nothing like the crosscuts you've seen in the past. The fabric makes them feel more like a cozy travel shirt. While these don't have an open collar, you could easily see them having one when you feel the fabric. They just feel comfy and give off incredible vibes all while having the silhouette of the crosscut flannel.
