D4525 - Sashiko Denim Vest - Indigo, Kakishibu
Studio D'Artisan - Sashiko Denim Vest - Indigo, Kakishibu
Well, we decided to start off with a bang for our intro into the world of Studio D'artisan. If you know us well, you know how well we love Kakishibu (especially when it's mixed with Indigo). Add sashiko into the mix and you can call us finished. This fabric has our ticket. It's everything we love in Japanese manufacturing. Kakishibu dates back to the time of the Samurai nearly 900 years ago. This particular process has often been referred to as the sun-dye because it gets darker when exposed to light in the dying process.
This round, they've gone with a crowd-pleaser. Indigo warp and kakishibu weft in a sashiko woven pattern. This fabric will be sought after for all time. We love the way it looks up front but may love the way it looks even further down the line. You can see some of the electric blues popping already from the one wash. We can only imagine how beautiful it will be with months and years of wear.

Fit Notes: Most of our Japanese brands are considered to have a small fit. These in particular are built to be close to the body. That being said, Tommy stuck to his true size of a 40, or medium for the pictures. These vests are built for layering. If you're worried about the tighter fit, it's always smart to size up. Tommy is 5'10," 165lbs with a 40" chest.
