SNL24-01CONW- Contest Flannel Work Shirt - Brown

This shirt is exactly as the name states - it won the contest. What feels like ages ago, Samurai did a social media contest to see which fabric would reign supreme. Turns out, this gorgeous brown plaid was the winner, and it was definitely worth the wait. While this fabric is heavy, it is very soft to counteract the weight. The one wash helps with that.

The colors are inspired by the colors of natural dyes representative of Japan, such as indigo, persimmon tannin, mud, and sumi ink, and are arranged with kinari yarn, the original color of raw cotton, in the image of home-made Samurai cotton.

In 2023, Samurai reached out to the public and asked them to submit their own ideas for a flannel pattern on Instagram and Facebook. After the final 500 or so votes, the grand prize winner and the winning pattern were chosen, and so we get this wonderful, slubby fabric designed by @rawdenimjourney!

A variance of +/-.5 is within tolerance. 

Fit Notes: In general, Samurai tops fit a bit small. Tommy likely could've worn a Large in this, but went for the XL in the pictures. He didn't see the W in the title which signifies that these are the roomier, "Western" cut with little to no shrinkage due to the one-wash process. We still recommend you size up from your normal American size. Tommy is 5'10,' 165lbs with a 40" chest. His North American size is M and his Japanese size is L.
