SP-093 - 45th Anniversary - 12.5oz "Ishikawadai" Selvedge Work Shirt - Indigo OW

This shirt has been a shop staple, if you can call a shirt that doesn't ever stay in stock staple, for years now. This iteration is the appetizer in what is a very in-depth collection of goodies Studio has been working on for their 45th called the "Ishikawadai" series. Why is it called that, you ask? Well, the Ishikawadai Seisakujo is a ring-spinning machine dating all the way back to 1953. This machine, named for its company, works at about a third of the rate of a modern machine. Like many of the fabrics we love, this creates heavily textured cotton due to the less-altered nature of the textile in its raw form. It also takes on indigo in a unique way highlighting the characteristics of the textile. This denim accomplishes its goal by instantly feeling like vintage goods. It will only accumulate more of that nostalgia as it ages.

A variance of +/-.5" is within tolerance. 

Fit Notes: Most of our Japanese brands are known for fitting small, but this work shirt has always had an oversized fit as it's built to be an overshirt. Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 42" in this to match the fit of the pants. With it being quite stiff, you can see in some pictures that it billows a bit at the sides. In the size 40, which is the size he would likely buy, this doesn't happen. It will drape better with time as the fabric breaks in. Tommy is 5'10," 163lbs with a 40" chest.
