02516P-OFBD - 13.7oz "Old Faded Blue Selvedge Denim - Type II Jacket

ONI has been our holy grail brand from the very beginning, and we've finally been able to build a relationship with the brand and owner Masao Oishi. The brand is as old school and secretive as it appears. They use traditional construction methods to create low-tension, irregular, slubby denim that has a cult following. Their selvedge tickles the ancient part of our brain that makes us love denim so much. ONI does one thing and they do it to perfection. We can't wait to explore their wonderful world of fabric and fits with you guys.

We were so excited for this denim because it is one gorgeous shade of indigo. These are clearly inspired by natural indigo used on vintage denim — a color we rarely see today unless it is natty indigo. Oish-san has accomplished this wonderful classic blue color by dipping the denim fewer times than the norm. They've also added a bit of sulfide for that secret denim greencast look Oni is known for. We're so stoked that this was available in the full "Old Faded Blue" suit. This jacket is our perfect Type II because it's been modernized with hand-warmer pockets. We think this contrast stitching on that vintage Wrangler inspired color makes this jacket a bit of perfection. We rarely see jackets from this brand, so if you've been waiting on one...snag your size while it's here.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 42 in this jacket. In order to fit the roomier look of the pants, he wanted a size larger than he normally wears. As you can see, these don't fit quite as small as you would expect a jacket from a Japanese brand to fit. Oishi-san purposefully gave this a bit of extra length as well for a more modern fit. Tommy is 5'10," 170lbs, with a 40" chest.
