SJST24-105 - "Aged Cotton" Inlay Printed Tee - Black

$ 165.00

When we originally got wind that we would be a new stockist for Samurai, our first thought wasn't t-shirts (it was raw denim). But when we saw these prints, we simply couldn't resist. These prints are packed with color and detail simply unrivaled by any other brand we work with. And we knew with it being Samurai construction, they would be worth every penny. They're a tubular knit made on the "Daimaru" machine with a 3-needle wrapped, ribbed collar and have some beautiful custom tag work. This shirt is so special because they use a special cotton that retains it fluff and has a super-aged, washed feel once woven on the loopwheel machines. It's much softer than the other iterations.

About 150 years ago, Japan's voluntary isolation from the rest of the world ("sakoku" in Japanese) ended and diplomatic relations with other countries resumed. The label design on tea boxes used for exporting Japanese tea at that time was called "Ranji," which was drawn by ukiyoe craftsmen and was a mix of traditional Japanese ukiyoe and English script. This design style is said to be the forerunner of Japanese graphic design, and is still passed down today.

Fit Notes: In general, Samurai tops fit a bit small. This one, as it's not the oversized version, fits that bill. The XL fits more like a medium than the large or medium. Tommy wore an XL, and for his taste it felt small. He would likely purchase the XXL for an oversized look. Keep this in mind before you purchase this tee. Tommy is 5'10,' 165lbs with a 40" chest. His North American size is M and his Japanese size is L.
