5700 - "Awa-Ai" Natural Indigo Heavyweight Check Flannel

If we've learned one thing in the past few years, it's that people love Tokushima Hand Dyed Indigo. It's a painstaking process that yields this incredible blueberry blue that can't be achieved through synthetic dyeing. It is also so culturally significant that the Japanese government labeled it and "Intangible Cultural Treasure." We've seen it in denim and jackets, but this is our first go at a Tokushima Check Flannel. We are smitten as kittens with the weight, texture, and color of this shirt. This particular variation has gone through roughly 5 dye cycles to get that rich, but light hue. You can expect all the wonderful construction details you've come to know and love from one of the most artisanal brands in our lineup.

Fit Notes: Most of our Japanese brands are known for fitting small, and this one fits the bill. Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 42 in the pictures, which is closest to a large, and it fits him perfectly. His standard size is medium, so he has followed the "size up once for Japanese brands" rule. Tommy is 5'10," 163lbs with a 40" chest.
