03501-HJS - 12oz Harinuki Jacquard Stripe Selvedge Coverall - Indigo

ONI has been our holy grail brand from the very beginning, and we've finally been able to build a relationship with the brand and owner Masao Oishi. The brand is as old school and secretive as it appears. They use traditional construction methods to create low-tension, irregular, slubby denim that has a cult following. Their selvedge tickles the ancient part of our brain that makes us love denim so much. ONI does one thing and they do it to perfection. We can't wait to explore their wonderful world of fabric and fits with you guys.

Oishi-san has once again given us fabric over which to marvel. While we've seen many variations of Hickory and Wabash stripe over the years, this is the first time we've seen anything that looks quite like this. The jacquard stripe running vertically along this fabric is packed with character. We have to say, one of our favorite parts is that that fabric is selvedge and they have chosen to highlight that throughout the pant as with any other denim. This style of jacquard is accomplished by using a drop stitch, creating that lovely two-tone appearance. If you look closely at the fabric, you can see the herringbone running vertically instead of horizontally. This is our first rendevous with a top from ONI, so we of course got super excited to stock it in the shop. It totally lives up to expectations as a righteous alternative to you your standard denim jacket.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 42 in this jacket. In order to fit the roomier look of the pants, he wanted a size larger than he normally wears. As you can see, these don't fit quite as small as you would expect a jacket from a Japanese brand to fit. The coverall style gives it a boxier silhouette easy to layer with. Tommy is 5'10," 165lbs, with a 40" chest.
