It's so exciting to see more Type IIs from Momotaro this season. Their Type II fit really shines in this black/blue fabric. The one-wash makes it pop like crazy and starts to give hints at just how gorgeous this baby will be once it fades. Often referred to as shadow selvedge, indigo warp, and black weft denim create intense pops of white as the core yarns of the denim become exposed with time. These have a noir effect that you have to see to believe (there are tons of images of black x blue denim online). One of our favorite parts of this jacket is the choice to do one blue and one black stripe. The light blue stripe is already starting to show its flecky character underneath. The top layer of denim is indigo dyed for fading potential and the warp is sulphur dyed, also for fading potential. The black x blue Japanese flag tab on the pocket also reflects the color scheme of this Type II. The most important part though is you'll have somewhere to put your hands in these hand-warmer pockets. We're so impressed by Momotaro's fabric selection this season.

Fit Notes: We find these fit pretty true to size, for a Type II that is. These are meant to sit at or about the waist. Shop owner Tommy is wearing a 42 in the pictures, as he's been sizing up in nearly everything lately. There's plenty of room in the chest and body. This jacket fits him more like a type iii when he sizes up this big. If you're uncertain, size up once. It never hurts to have a little extra room in a  jacket meant for layering. Tommy is our standard fit model and normally wears a 42 or Large from most Japanese brands. He is 5'10", 170lbs with a 40" chest.
