orSlow

orSlow - 105 - Standard Fit Denim - One Wash.

Pleased is an understatement when it comes to the fact that we're working with orSlow. They've been on our brand "bucket list" for a while, so when we had a chance to see the line live in New York a few years back...we knew it was only a matter of time. The brand is everything we love - vintage-inspired designs with a modern branding approach and quality at the forefront of their ethos. It's all in the name, as they're the antidote to modern fast fashion...they do things slowly!

The 105 is an icon at this point. We're just the latest to get our hands on it. It existed in all its glory before we came along, and it will hopefully exist long after. The first thing everyone notices with this pair is the verdigris (patina) that forms on the copper rivets. It's funny how simple things like this get us going...but we're simple and they know that it's the small details that tug our heartstrings. The fabric itself is as traditional as can be. It's a 13.5oz proprietary denim meant to mimic that of the 66' 501. It's got just the tiniest amount of slub, but lots of really nice hair. Looking at it on the microscopic level is like looking through a field of dandelions. Scope all the details below on this pair that does all the small things right.
orSlow - 107 - Ivy Fit Selvedge Denim - 2 Year Wash.

You may have noticed that we've been a holdout on washed denim for nearly ten years of doing business. We were always of the mindset that we should make our own fades. We've passed on many a beautiful wash, and we've also evolved a little bit as a brand. If we were ever going to start with a wash, it was going to be from orSlow. The first time we saw these in person in a New York showroom over 2 years ago now, we knew they were too special to not give a shot. And now that we have, we're utterly in love.

This pair is mirrored from an archival pair from designer Ichiro Nakasu's own personal collection. It features oxidized rivets, railroading, honeycombs, roping, and gold selvedge ID. The fading is pretty perfectly even across the jeans like you would expect from any great vintage pair. There's almost more white there than blue at this point. This is the pair for guys who have tons of indigo they're working on and want something with that vintage look. It's also just for anyone who likes this wash of denim! These are nice and soft but will continue to age and patina with time.
orSlow - 1950's Denim Coverall Jacket - One Wash.

Pleased is an understatement when it comes to the fact that we're working with orSlow. They've been on our brand "bucket list" for a while, so when we had a chance to see the line live in New York a few years back...we knew it was only a matter of time. It's all in the name, as they're the antidote to modern fast fashion...they do things slowly!

This jacket is a 1950's coverall inspiration. It was an instant yes for us with all its flecky texture and copper buttons. The raglan sleeve, wrapped seams, and pockets all lend to the beautiful curvature of this piece. At 9oz, it's a great lightweight jacket to be worn with layers while "covering all." You'll notice little hints of branding throughout in all the right places including those spectacular copper buttons. This is a classic five-pocket - the fifth being an interior chest - with pen slots, flaps, and even open-style hand pockets for the storage trifecta.
orSlow - 1950's Type II Denim Jacket - Two Year Wash

orSlow's Two Year Wash fabrics are among the best denim washes we've ever handled. The TYW jacket isn't just stoned-washed in a big batch, but individually attended to in order to ensure all details are accurate and natural - notice the unique fading on the elbows, for example.

The 1950's Type II Jacket is orSlow's take on the original 507xx (Type 2) denim jacket introduced in 1953. The 507xx was famously worn throughout Hollywood by musicians and movie stars (now would be a good time to go watch Badlands starring Martin Sheen) which launched the denim jacket into a fashion icon forever. orSlow pulls no punches on this one, making a historically accurate and easily-worn jacket that harkens back to one of the coolest eras of American fashion. Like a well-fitting leather jacket, it's hard not to feel cool in a well-worn jean jacket.
orSlow - Fatigue Pants Reverse Sateen - Slim Fit - Olive.

The Fatigue Pants from orSlow are perhaps one of the most legendary, and sometimes elusive, pairs of pants in our industry. Everyone either has a pair of these or wants them. The hand feel on the slubbiness you see in those up-close shots is like butter. They call them heavyweight, but they're so comfortable on the skin. You'll see little details all over that harken back to the US Army pair these are mirrored from. We're talking side-tab waist adjustments, front patch pockets, and button closures galore. We see these pants being a staple for us long-term...that is, if we can keep them in stock.

This one is quite a bit of a legend. Everyone either has a pair of these or wants them. They're that same horizontally textured reverse sateen as the shirt, just in pant form. The hand feel on the slubbiness you see in those up-close shots is like butter. They call them heavyweight, but they're so comfortable on the skin. You'll see little details all over that harken back to the US Army pair these are mirrored from. We're talking side-tab waist adjustments, front patch pockets, and button closures galore. orSlow - 6-Pocket Cargo Trousers - Slim Fit - Olive.

If you asked the question "what would it be like if you put pockets on the slim-fit Fatigue Pant" this might just be your answer. Of course, it has different pockets and a slightly different cut, but a similar look overall. The major difference is that ripstop fabric. It's the grid pattern you see on a macro level in the pants. Where they lack the texture of the reverse sateen, they gain a ton with the ripstop. These are a little smoother overall and we're honestly quite enamored with the fit. The side tab adjusters make it quite utilitarian as the piece is as a whole in general. These things have us swooning.
orSlow - Boat Neck Cut & Sew Shirt - Indigo.

Another heater of a launch starts with a mid-weight long sleeve shirt from Orslow. It's packed with texture and hand feel that you can see in the close-ups. This indigo is sure to crock and fade with washes making it even more beautiful with wear. It also features a wider boat neck fit for an entirely different look and feel than your typical crew neck shirt. It's a great snag if you're the kind of person who wants the added value of sleeves and also loves to pull those sleeves up to get some work done.

If you can't tell by now, we love fatigue shirts. This one is very easily our favorite. It's a beautiful, horizontally-textured reverse sateen with the buttons that are so familiar to all of us, yet so hard to describe. It's almost like they've taken all of the shiny stuff of urea buttons and what your left with is this texturily satisfying almost rubber like hand feel. That's enough about buttons, though. This double chest pocket fatigue is perfectly simple with all the right tags and details in all the right places.

orSlow - French Work Pants.

Pleased is an understatement when it comes to the fact that we're working with orSlow. We've got to admit, after nearly a decade of putting on stiff pants for photoshoots...it's quite nice to put something on like this. Feeling comfortable and mobile had us bending down to hold up the pups. This classic, relaxed-fit chino is filled with character. It has a vertical herringbone pattern that you can really only see up close. The button fly and a tool pouch on the side make these a classic French work pant. The elastic waist ensures that they'll always fit.

This thing was simply too fun, and we love the script too much not to have one for the shop. We're on the fence about whether we should hang it as display, but we're gonna give it a shot and see if anyone needs this in their life as bad as we did. It's their original flecky 9oz denim fabric with lots of character and hairiness. The screenprint is an added bonus for us.
orSlow - Loopwheel Crewneck Sweatshirt - Heather Grey.

You say "loopwheel" and we're there. These are everything expected and more. They're plush on the outside and super soft on the inside with tons of texture. The ribbing is that orSlow quality we all expect. The character in this piece is in its simplicity. We're all about building better basics, and that's exactly what orSlow has done with the slow, loopwheel process. The raglan sleeve makes them fit so damn well too!

orSlow - New Yorker Pant - Ecru

There is simply not a better warm-weather pant than the New Yorker - especially in orSlow's other-worldly Ecru cotton. Made from loosely-woven midweight cotton, the fabric on the Ecru New Yorker feels weighty and substantial without feeling "heavy". Ultra breezy and flexible but significant when on-body. The New Yorker is a super versatile pant that can be lounged in at home or dressed up on a hot summer day.
orSlow - New Yorker Pant Olive.

We have to admit, we made a huge mistake not buying these from the jump. We didn't truly understand how gorgeous they were until we saw them in person. This fit is a perfect blend of military inspiration and contemporary styling. It has a wonderful taper, without being too slim allowing them to feel tailored, yet comfy. You get a little bit of everything with these pants, especially with a lightweight ripstop fabric. These babies can be worn year-round.

These bad boys were a shot at nostalgia for us. They bring us right back to the 90's. We went for the even heavier "used" version of the pant vs the "one wash." These have all of the classic features including that left hand loop for your hammer and a slot on the right for many other tools. The massive pockets and subtle arcuate only add to the wonderfully fun nature of these pants. And, they're soft as all get out. This is a true work-wear fit with enough room to do almost anything.
Short Sleeve Shirt - Vintage Fit - Bleached Chambray.

Leave it to orSlow to take a design as timeless as the chambray work shirt and improve on it. Sometimes all it takes is the right fabric. As we start to see warmer weather on the horizon it feels like it's time to start shortening sleeves and orSlow comes in clutch with this fantastic lightweight chambray.
