8081 - "Amami Dorozome" Crewneck Sweatshirt - Brown
Studio D'Artisan - "Amami Dorozome" Crewneck Sweatshirt - Dark Brown
The mud dye is back!! It seems that you guys loved the last round of mud-dyed garments as much as we did. That is what "Amami Dorozome" is, the art of dyeing garments with a combination of mud and vegetable oil to create this gorgeous palette of colors. It really doesn't get more earth-tone than this. We're so lucky the artisans on the island of Amami-Oshima are still producing this long-standing tradition. They've chosen a piece that everyone can easily jump on in the form of this sinker weave sweater. This is another traditional and very hard-to-manage version of knitting. The machines all have their own personalities and have to be coddled to get the fabric just right. What results is some of the best knitting in the world filled with tons of character.

Fit Notes: This sweatshirt is a more standard Studio D'artisan Fit. Shop owner Tommy is wearing a large which is his standard size from these guys. We would recommend buying one size up from your normal size, as we do with most Japanese brands. He is 5'10," 165lbs with a 40" chest, and typically wears a North American Medium (38) and Japanese Large (42).

The only thing that could've improved this serge western was a new color. This one was originally called Mocha Brown, which we think is very suitable. It's this rich color that suits this now iconic shirt. It used to be that we rarely saw green from Iron Heart, but now green is a staple. So, we've been super stoked to see khakis and browns rearing their pretty heads. You can't go wrong with the western cut, unless you don't size up, as it has some absolutely gorgeous details. We love the yokes and Permex buttons the most on these beauties.
We felt very lucky to be a part of this limited edition "Year of the Rabbit" release. These were right up our alley with special little touches throughout. They really went above and beyond with the theme, starting with the rabbit mosaic. You have to look close, but you'll see little guys in an arctic colorway forming the GTB stripes. The hair on the patch is a really nice touch as well (it's not rabbit). There's custom details interworked throughout, including printed "Year of the Rabbit" pocket bags and jacquard liner. The interior is bonkers. There is of course all of Momo's standard, but incredible details. But, the capper has to be the peaking Rabbit laser engraved on the front coin pocket. It was a total surprise to us, and a happy one at that. The fabric is also an icon. The 13oz really shines with this one-wash treatment and is full of micro hairs and texture. We're so excited to be one of only two stores in all of the US even offering this denim! It's a rare one, that's for sure - we were only allowed to buy 10 pairs.
We've been looking for something a little wider than the narrow taper, and we've found just that. This Wide Straight, also known as the classic straight is just the thing to break you out of your slim jeans. We started our initial run of Momotaro with 16oz denim due to the texture, but again and again, received requests for the 15.7oz. This is Momo's iconic "Vintage Label" denim. The lore about its fading potential is heard far and wide
For our initial run with this denim, we went with black battle stripes to make the denim a little more subtle. Due to requests, we had to bring back the black stripe in this 15.7oz fabric. We've seen fades on these down the line, and we can't bring ourselves to move on from the black. It'll be something we're always drawn to. The black will sluff off more naturally with the denim, and from what we now know, will stand out nicely against a heavily faded pair. This is crocking that makes perfect sense.
These are truly gobsmacking. They knocked us off our feet. It's everything that gets us and all of you excited. We've had so many requests for Sashiko fabric in the last few months and this might just be the perfect pair. Our signature black battle stripes have been added to this pair making them a rarity in the denim hunter world. You'll also notice copper rivets as this is the standard 5-pocket model...it's just a basket weave fabric vs twill. They also piped the busted outseam to give them a super finished look when cuffed. We can't overstate how gorgeous these are and we hope they stick around long enough for you to snag a pair.
Pima Highneck Sweater - 07 Black
We've been on the hunt for a good turtle neck for years, and my goodness did we find it. When we tried this on, we forgot it was pima. We knew something was different about the fabric but didn't check the contents until this very moment when we started writing the copy. That's what we find when we're dealing with a fabric that is high in quality - you feel the difference right away. We've seen pima come down the line in many forms, but nothing this thick with the ability to have a stand-neck collar. It's our favorite cotton for a reason. It's luxurious and so soft to the skin. We think these are an incredible addition to any wardrobe needing a shake-up and a staple at the same time.
A knit-like high-neck shirt made from high-quality Spanish Pima cotton. Although the fabric is tightly packed, it is thinner than a sweatshirt and features the smoothness and softness of the thread, making it comfortable to wear. It is easy to match with various styles of outerwear and can be used as an inner layer in autumn and winter. The cotton material makes it difficult for static electricity to occur and can be washed at home.
