Leisure Shirt - Black Ikat

$ 198.00

Spring 24 has arrived and it wouldn't be the same without the presence of the leisure shirt. This a perennial return with each year showing a new fabric in this iconic silhouette. This fabric is a doozie. If you've never heard of "ikat" (we hadn't) the process is super unique. Like tye-dye or shibori, this is done with a resistance process; however, this is done at the yarn stage, not after final production. The yarn is wrapped in bundles (hanks) which have have resist applied in all the right places and the fabric is dyed over and over to get the dark color. The rest remains un-dyed. It's how you get those wavy check looks every few inches. The process was originally invented in Indonesia and is such an incredible story that you feel like you can wear on your body. This shirt features 3sixteen's unique open-style collar and coconut shell buttons.

  • 100% Cotton Fabric Loomed by Hand
  • Ikat Dye
  • Open Collar
  • Coconut Shell Buttons
  • Made in India

A variance of +/-.5 is within tolerance.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a large in this leisure shirt. He had previously chosen to go with larges in all 3sixteen shirts, but it does appear that this round is a little roomier than previous iterations. The entire Spring lineup seems to be this way. It worked out as he is wearing baggier jeans for the shoot. If you are rocking slimmer silhouettes, you should probably stick to your true size. Tommy is 5'10," 163lbs with a 40" chest.
