Bring on all of the MIJ. The "Made in Japan" series is by far the peak of the mountain for Naked & Famous. They decided to create something that competes with the best denim in the world, and they've more than accomplished it. We look forward to what new creative fabric they'll develop each year, and it never disappoints. 

This time, they've given us one that everyone's been asking for, for ages. We've seen a fair amount of green cast in our days, and it appears that most of what we were looking at was top-dyed. This is when they overdye the fabric once it's been rope-dyed. The more rare and unique version is bottom dyed, meaning exactly the opposite. It creates a denim that looks fairly standard in terms of indigo color up front but fades more uniquely than top- dyed green cast. The name Aaomidori translates to "blue-green."

They've cranked the fabric up a bit from the last green cast by adding a ton of character through slub. That's those gorgeous vertical lines you see - these are created at the base level of the yarn. It's pulled at different tensions creating uneven bumps and lumps in the yarn that show up when the yarn is woven into fabric. This denim has everything we want in terms of uniqueness and texture, plus all the MIJ extras.

The hardware is really unique in that it's meant to patina and oxidize from the Iron buttons to the pure copper rivets. This iteration gets its own Sheepskin leather patch design known as "The Flower of Carnage." You'll also see the embroidered Maple Leaf to tie the whole thing back to its manufacturing heritage in Canada. The interior placket features that solid red line selvedge id. The final touch is the Tempi treatment which is a proprietary one wash that gives the fabric that crinkly, crunchy look. The bigger picture is that you get all the texture of an unsanforized, loomstate fabric without having to worry about volatility. It really is the only way.
