Naked & Famous - 13oz Sumi Ink Selvedge Denim - Weird Guy
Sumi is a traditional Japanese ink used for calligraphy. This pair of denim is rope-dyed with deep indigo underneath but has been completely enveloped by ink. The beauty in this denim is not only in its matte black coating but the way in which it fades. If you're familiar with indigo x black denim that has been released in the past, they have this wonderful shadowy look as the natural color of the rope yarn reveals itself over time...well this denim fades in a very similar way but slightly different. As the Sumi Ink starts to crock from the denim, followed by the indigo, you'll see similar shades of bright indigo and natural whites all while bits of that black coating remain stuck between the twill lines. It makes for an incredibly unique wear pattern even for the broad range of Naked & Famous jeans. These are a bit like their core fading series if you think about the entire pant acting as the core waiting to be revealed. There's a nice little trick that happens with the selvedge ID that you can see on the backside of the ticker. It's a pink ID that will also be revealed with time. They've finished the pants with tonal stitching, black-coated hardware, and a black leather patch.

Fit Notes: Tommy is wearing a size 33 waist in these. He has been wearing this as a standard size in the Weird Guy, and it seems to work across the board. Obviously, he has a bit more room because of the waist and rise of the Weird Guy. They fit with a bit of extra room in the waist this time, which he would probably feel fine with after the first wash and with a belt. For the weight, he would gladly allow the waist to form around his body over time. Better to be safe than sorry on a denim this heavy. We would recommend you size up at least once from whatever you normally wear. Tommy is 5'10", 175lbs with a 33-34" waist.
