We've seen just about every variant of core selvedge at this point. I know some people are still waiting for a yellow or an orange, but we couldn't be more stoked to see the red return. the one thing we always wanted from this selvedge was more of, well, a gradient for lack of better words. The way the previous cores bled through was too even and smooth. When we saw the example of how these would fade the hooks were in. We are too intrigued by the future fades to not want to be a part of this release. 

The Red Gradient Core Selvedge is a 12.5oz Japanese Selvedge Denim. These may look like a classic pair of indigo dyed jeans, but there is a secret within the core of the yarns that make this fabric. Typically, the yarns used to make denim start off white and are dyed indigo. For the Red Gradient Core Selvedge, the white yarns are first dyed red using a permanent reactive dye, and afterwards are rope dyed with indigo. This creates a yarn that is indigo on the outside with a red center core yarn on the inside. As the indigo layers fade away, the reactive dyed core will begin to reveal itself. Furthermore, the core yarns were dyed with several shades of red to create a gradient tone once faded, so instead of fading to one shade of red you’ll see a spectrum of red hues. This fabric is crisp and rigid with that classic raw denim feel.

Fit Notes:  Andy is wearing a size 31 in the pictures. This is his classic fit in the Super Guy. These are the slimmest fit, but can wear a little more straight if you size up one, which we always recommend with this pair. Shop owner Tommy is our standard fit reference and wears a size 31 in these, but will often size up to 32 for a more comfy fit. Tommy is 5'10", 162lbs with a 32-33" waist.
